Favorite Carry-On & Weekender Bags

One thing I have to admit is… that I love a great bag. Rather it’s a clutch (my fave), a cute little crossbody or a fabulous weekender, I find that a great durable bag is an essential piece to my closet, especially when I’m traveling.  I’m definitely a one bag kinda girl when I hop on a plane. I do it so much that I find it essential to just travel with a carry-on in addition to my handbag or laptop bag for business.

I wasn’t always this way. Nearly twenty years ago, I had traveled with my then boyfriend (which was a fabulous trip by the way) to Hawaii.  However upon my arrival back in LA (…and after standing at the luggage turnstile waiting for bags that were apparently not on board (and subsequently lost for over two months), I realized that maybe packing for two and a half weeks for a 1 week stay was not the way to go. Who knew that I would basically just wear cutoff jeans, t-shirts, my favorite slip skirt, flip-flops, bikini and lip gloss for the majority of the trip and not the make-up, stilettos, little black dress, three pairs of jeans, light sweater, light jacket and four other dresses and shirts to choose from?  I SMH as I digress…

Seriously though… let’s talk about it. before you embark on your next adventure, it’s crucial to have a medium-sized travel tote or a weekender that’s both spacious and stylish to hold all your essential items. Click below for my favorites.

about thE April BLOG [issue 04]

letter from the editor

What I love about traveling is the opportunity to just let go.  Actually, in my opinion… it is truly the time for self-discovery, self-reliance and sometimes it’s the perfect moment for reinvention or reconnection of oneself.  Yes, I can certainly do this while at home but going away especially when traveling solo, just does something for me. I’m able to take time to hear my inner thoughts, collect ideas and sometimes allow myself to feel things that I have been avoiding. When you’re so busy doing life, sometimes it’s easier to simply not deal with what needs to be dealt with. This is why self-care is so important. For me, its not just prayer, meditation and talking it out in therapy that helps me get back into alignment but it’s also taking a little time to go away and indulge myself into something new. It’s the perfect time to perfect just being.

When thinking of this issue, I wanted to think about a place that I could go and fulfill my soft and wild side. For anyone that is looking for an amazing adventure that fulfills either or both your adventure and your relaxation side, then Botswana may just be the place for you…
